What is the impact of the government shutdown on research and awards?
The federal government went on partial shutdown when funding for a number of federal agencies lapsed on December 22. Agencies funded through fiscal year 2019, such as the National Institutes of Health, are not affected by the shutdown. Impacted agencies include the National Science Foundation, National Endowment for the Humanities and the National Endowment for the Arts.
The best course of action for researchers is to proceed with ongoing research unless notified differently; submit project and financial reports as scheduled; and work with the Office of Grants and Contracts to submit new proposals according to previously published deadlines, and we will process according to the best and most recent directions provided by each agency. New awards or payments will not be made during the lapse in appropriations.
The Office of Grants and Contracts is available for questions or to schedule an appointment to discuss your research at x2181, or mamuchane@davidson.edu. In addition, OGC Funding Opportunities Newsletters and Sabbatical Fellowships are available on Dropbox.
